My Role

At General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB), I was appointed as the Chief Engineer Technical Liaison (CETL) for the last year and a half of my five year career there as a nuclear submarine systems engineer.  In this role I worked as the right hand to the highest level engineer in the company managing and supporting multidisciplinary teams resolving some of the largest emergent construction liabilities facing the organization.  I also lead many initiatives mobilizing Engineering, the Executive Staff and partner universities to support technical development initiatives across the company. 

 

The Coin

As part of these efforts to improve company culture, I designed this challenge coin for the Chief Engineer's Office.  Challenge coins are medallions rewarded to acknowledge an individual's achievement, historically part of military traditions.  Copies of this coin are now awarded by the Chief Engineer or his high-level Staff Engineer affiliates to GDEB employees who have demonstrated exceptional performance on highly challenging projects.

This coin is based off of digital illustrations I created using Adobe Software.  The imagery contains symbols for the Nautilus training program I helped develop for the company, the submarine product they design and build, nuclear power and the company's logo, as well as text that highlights the Chief Engineer's Office's core values.​
